Sharjah Museums Authority Puts Cultural Innovation on Display at Arabian Travel Market 2025
Sharjah [UAE], April 29 (ANI/WAM): The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is actively involved in the continuing Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, emphasizing the emirate’s increasing significance as a premier hub for cultural tourism, and demonstrating the impact of its museums in advancing art, education, and innovation on an international scale.
At ATM 2025, SMA is showcasing a special exhibit called "A Voyage Across Ages."
The exhibit encourages guests to delve into the extensive history of travel and commerce, while honoring Sharjah’s enduring position as a link between various civilizations throughout different periods and cultures.
The exhibit showcases a curated selection of precious artifacts meticulously chosen from the extensive collections of Sharjah Museums.
Some notable items include a scarce reproduction of an Ottoman Qur'an manuscript crafted by the esteemed calligrapher Ahmad Qara Hisari, a maritime landscape artwork depicting Khorfakkan created by distinguished Emirati artist Abdulqader Al Rais, a classical astrolabe instrument, equipment used for pearling expeditions, and golden equestrian accessories found at the historical archaeological location of Mleiha.
Collectively, these collections narrate the age-old human endeavor for exploration, exchange, and mutual comprehension.
To bolster its strategy aimed at improving the visitor experience via technological advancements, SMA formally unveiled the release of its new mobile app when participating in ATM 2025.
The application serves as an all-encompassing digital portal for delving into the Authority’s museums, offering users the ability to explore collections, exhibitions, and events. It also includes features for pre-booking tickets and organizing visits, which aids in establishing Sharjah as a premier destination for cultural tourism.
SMA likewise welcomed guests to explore its collection of 16 museums situated throughout Sharjah city, Khorfakkan, and Kalba. These institutions cover an extensive array of topics such as Islamic art and culture, archaeology, heritage, science, and marine life.
This year, particular emphasis is placed on the recently inaugurated Museum of Education in Sharjah at "Al Qasimia School," enhancing the Authority’s extensive array of educational initiatives with its deep historical insights into education.
Guests can explore SMA’s vibrant yearly schedule of displays, hands-on sessions, and local engagement projects.
These initiatives demonstrate the Authority’s dedication to fostering inclusive educational environments and ensuring that museums are welcoming to individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and capabilities.
In an effort to enhance visitor engagement through interaction, SMA will be providing a custom-designed interactive box at ATM 2025.
Featuring a self-guided workshop, this box enables visitors to engage in a practical activity similar to those frequently conducted at Sharjah’s museums. This enhances their engagement with history, art, and culture.
Crowning its participation, SMA announced that all its museums will offer free entry to the public on May 18 to celebrate International Museum Day.
This program aids the Authority’s mission to transform museums into lively, inclusive environments where knowledge, innovation, and communal engagement can flourish.
Tourists can readily visit the museums by reserving their complimentary tickets online via the official website. Sharjah Museums Authority website. (ANI/WAM)
