President Bola Tinubu has conveyed profound sorrow following the death of Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, who served as the Galadima of Kano and was a prominent kingmaker within the Kano Emirate.
Sanusi passed away at the age of 92 after a long battle with illness. He leaves behind numerous children and grandchildren.
The President conveyed his condolences through a statement issued by his Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.
One of his offspring is Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, who serves as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
President Tinubu described the late Sanusi as a significant pillar of the traditional institution, whose contributions to its survival and development would be remembered beyond the Kano Emirate and the state itself.
"The President conveys his sympathy to the government and citizens of Kano State, the Kano Emirate Council, as well as the relatives of the deceased chieftain," the statement read.
He sought peaceful rest in Jannatul Firdaus for the departed soul.
