On Wednesday, Standard Bank Namibia declared a three-year collaboration with Rich-Africa Consultancy, intended to promote growth within Namibia’s energy industry.
This partnership highlights Standard Bank's commitment to taking a prominent position in Africa’s energy and infrastructure growth post-2025. By utilizing their deep industry knowledge and significant capital, the bank aims to assist clients and seize new prospects in these sectors.
Namibia encompasses seven sedimentary basins, with four located offshore and three on land. Recent findings in the nation's Orange Basin have significant economic promise, especially starting around 2030. As such, the Bank aims to capitalize on this chance and establish itself as Namibia’s premier financial institution in the realm of oil and gas.
"Standard Bank Namibia feels honored to form a partnership with the Namibia International Energy Conference as joint advocates for the energy sector," stated Nelson Lucas, who leads Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank Namibia, in a recent announcement.
We highly value this platform for uniting global industry leaders and experts, facilitating discussions that shape industries and foster international networking, thereby securing Namibia’s position as a leading force in energy within Africa and globally.
"Standard Bank Namibia takes pride in being among the leading energy financiers in Namibia, boasting operations throughout Africa along with extensive experience and knowledge. Acting as a frontrunner in the field, we aim to assist local entities participating in various stages of the supply chain, thereby fostering economic expansion within Namibia and beyond continental borders. We eagerly anticipate this year's conference and the significant perspectives it will bring," he concluded.
This three-year collaboration underscores a mutual dedication to progressing Namibia’s energy industry via financial support, innovative solutions, and equitable development. By acting as a Sapphire Sponsor, Standard Bank aims to utilize its extensive experience in energy funding to facilitate significant discussions, promote knowledge exchange, and encourage investment mobilization at the NIEC 2025 event and subsequent initiatives.
The 2025 Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC), scheduled for April 23-25, will take place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort. The event’s theme is "Pioneering Change: Establishing Ourselves as an Energy Center with Domestic Value."
"Standard Bank's collaboration underscores Namibia's increasing significance in shaping Africa's energy landscape," stated Ndapwilapo Selma Shimutwikeni, Founder & CEO of RichAfrica Consultancy.
Their support enhances our capability to link resources with possibilities through our platform, guaranteeing practical achievements within the industry and significantly fostering progress in Namibia’s energy sector.
This partnership will enhance NIEC’s position as a reliable forum for fostering thought leadership, facilitating policy debates, and encouraging strategic cooperation. By organizing panel discussions, high-level executive dialogues, and carefully planned networking events, Standard Bank aims to significantly influence the discourse around energy advancements, sustainable financing, and uncovering potential throughout the entire energy sector.
The 2025 edition will highlight Namibia's progress in upstream oil and gas development, explore its potential for renewable energies, discuss investments in infrastructure, and examine the changing regulatory environment influencing energy and mining investments.
