PIB Kohima Updates Media on Upcoming World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit 2025

Kohima (Nagaland) [India] April 28 (ANI): The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Kohima, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, held a 'Varta' meeting with media professionals to share details about the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.

The summit will be held in Mumbai from May 1 to May 4, 2025, and many countries from around the world will take part in it.

At the event on Monday, the Assistant Director spoke about various topics. PIB Kohima Soni Kumar stated that WAVES intends to showcase India’s cultural legacy, folklore, and historical heritage through contemporary means such as artificial intelligence, digital imagery, movies, poetry, graphic novels, and various types of media platforms, encompassing print, television, and social networks.

Even though recognition of WAVES remains low among much of the public, including media outlets, the Indian government is giving significant attention to the event. Reporters from various parts of India are reporting on it; however, a delegate from Nagaland was unable to attend this time because of previous engagements.

He mentioned that multiple winners hailing from different states have been announced, and they will work alongside international entities and media organizations. "This underscores the significance of advancing WAVES beyond just Nagaland and across the whole Northeast region, where recognition remains insufficient. Furthermore, the gathering encompasses events such as a worldwide media discussion, making the agenda quite intense."

He stated that WAVES 2025 is an industry-driven event backed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It is designed to be a worldwide stage for the fusion of various sectors within the audio-visual industry such as cinema, TV, streaming platforms, cartoons, video games, and virtual reality technology. This gathering seeks to position India as a leading source of global content with ambitions to become a major exporter of media products internationally by boosting the country’s presence in international markets.
